Studio Rescue Dog grew from a research effort at the University of Arizona looking at rescue, adoption, and visibility.
One idea kept returning: rescue dogs are most often encountered in the places where people already expect to find them. Many people who might someday adopt simply aren't looking there.
We began wondering what might happen if rescue appeared in more of everyday life.
Studio Rescue Dog explores that question. Its initial focus is its Little Stories project. Other projects will grow out of its work, too. For now, we are focused on using storytelling to change how rescue is perceived and where it is encountered.
We work at the intersection of art and science - bringing creative intuition together with research, experimentation, and observation.
Sometimes we create things ourselves. The Studio's plan, though, rests on creative collaborations - with artists, creators, businesses, brands, communities, and others who care - who will help create wonderful stories, and help those stories reach new audiences.
We put ideas into the world, pay attention to what happens, and let what we learn inform what we try next.
The ambition is simple: that more rescue dogs are seen, admired, and chosen.
